The bond between horse and human is among the most complex and emotionally-driven relationships possible- a delicate balance of affection, power, intelligence, and dedication. Corpus Equus is Naomi Goodsir’s distillation of the essence of her first and favorite horse, a fiery white Arabian named Tequila known for both his petulant temperament, but also his enormous heart. Created by the legendary Bertrand Duchaufour, it is a compelling and contemporary olfactive vision of a horse, intensely smoky and animalistic, with assertive leather notes that stretch and flow like a champion thoroughbred in mid-stride. Initially almost overwhelming in its dark, aggressive ash-and-smoke potency, Corpus Equus reveals extraordinary depth with patience and time, as softer musk and floral elements and the warm, living glow of amber assert themselves to achieve a ravishingly multidimensional portrait of a truly majestic creature. Like the “outrenoir” artwork of Pierre Soulages, also an inspiration in the creation of this scent, Corpus Equus is an intensely dark fragrance that nonetheless exudes a wild and joyful luminosity.
